Debasis Manna was born in West Bengal, India. He completed his B.Sc degree in Chemistry from Narendrapur Residential College, Calcutta University, India. Then he moved to Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), India and received M.Sc degree in Physical Chemistry. He received doctoral fellowship from University of Illinois at Chicago, USA and joined the group of Professor Wonhwa Cho. His thesis research work was on "Membrane Binding and Mechanistic Insights into the Phosphoinositide Interacting Protein Domains". He moved to the group of Professor Gautam Basu, Bose Institute, India for his postdoctoral research experience on mechanistic studies of glutamate-tRNA ligase. Then in 2009, he started his independent research career in the Department of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Currently he is working as Professor in the same Institute. His current research interests focused on Lipid Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry.
